About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Mother Baby Unit at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is responsible for coordinating nursing care for patients and participating in patient and family education. This role involves collaboration with ancillary staff and other healthcare personnel to maintain professional nursing standards, improve patient safety, and enhance the quality of care. The RN will also engage in performance improvement activities and promote a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment.

Requirements

• Six months of nursing experience preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Registered Nurse Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document nursing care provided in the patient's record.
• Administer medication safely and accurately.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients, including discharge planning.
• Assist physicians with examinations, tests, and procedures.
• Carry out physician orders safely and appropriately.
• Complete unit-based clinical and age-appropriate nursing competencies.
• Monitor and observe patients, recording changes in condition and reactions to treatments.
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities.
• Plan and coordinate patient/family teaching and assess understanding of information provided.
• Provide care that reflects appropriate infection control techniques and universal precautions.
