The primary function of a professional nurse in this position is to assess, plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients. The nurse will interact with hospital staff and ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts, assisting in their resolution. During shifts, the nurse will operate without support from Unit Clerk, Respiratory Therapy, Stroke Team, OB Support, Code Blue support, Phlebotomy, and House Supervisor. Responsibilities include Ventilator Management, Lab Draws (including ABGs), making and receiving phone calls, paging on-call resources, and responding to Code Blue situations. The nurse is accountable for maintaining performance skills and may work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status.
