About The Position

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a flexi/prn Registered Nurse for the Medical Telemetry Unit to work on an as needed basis. The Medical Telemetry unit is comprised of 24 beds; 17 beds for medical telemetry patients, and 7 beds for stroke/neuro patients. The unit takes care of adults with stroke rule out, TIA, CVA, syncope, COPD, CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and other acute problems needing telemetry monitoring.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required).
• Registered nursing License (required).
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS required (or will be taught).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing - BSN or MSN (preferred).
• ACLS certification (preferred).
• 1 year of acute care experience (preferred).
• Previous healthcare experience (preferred).
• Telemetry knowledge (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Medical Telemetry Unit.
• Monitor telemetry patients and respond to changes in their condition.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care.
• Educate patients and families on health management and care plans.
