This is a Full Time, Day Shift Position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the General Medical/Surgical Unit (4B) at Springfield Memorial Hospital. The unit consists of all private rooms and primarily serves a middle to older adult population. Nurses will care for a variety of medical patients, including post-surgical patients. The role includes a wide range of responsibilities such as managing central lines, IVs, PCAs, medication administration, wound care with dressing changes, care of dialysis patients, chest tubes, NG tubes, various drainage tubes, ostomy/ileostomy care, and addressing complex comorbidities. Patient education is also a key component of this role.   • Performs age appropriate assessments.
  • Analyzes data to identify nursing problems.
  • Provides direct patient care, develops individualized plan of care in partnership with patients & families.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward attainment of goals, revising plan of care when indicated.
  • Delegates patient care tasks to LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel based on job description and patient needs.
  • Appropriately supervises performance of LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Builds teamwork when supervising and delegating to others.
  • Documents patient care according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate implementation of physician's orders.
  • Current RN license in the State of Illinois required.
  • Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS Provider or Instructor certification required within one year of hire date.
  • BSN preferred, but not required.
  • $20,000 Sign On Bonus Opportunity
