Our Medical / Surgical Department embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, which are essential for providing specialized care to patients. This 26-bed department provides clinical care for patients from Neonatal to geriatric patients.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 14 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90-days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and organizes delivery of nursing care; accepting a variety of assignments and consulting with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Assists in staff development activities, including orienting, instructing and training others, emphasizing departmental, as well as interdepartmental cooperation and teamwork.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
