Aurora Medical Center Kenosha’s MS3 unit is a 13-bed medical/surgical unit located on the hospital’s second floor, specializing in orthopedic care, general surgery, and inpatient hospice services. Two rooms are designated for hospice patients, ensuring compassionate end-of-life care. The unit maintains an average daily census of 12.8 patients, with an average length of stay of four days. MS3 operates under a triad leadership model consisting of a Patient Care Manager, Unit Supervisor, and Nursing Professional Development Practitioner, while the charge nurse carries a reduced patient load to support clinical needs and daily operations. Spacious rooms and scenic views enhance the patient experience. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically average 1 RN for every 5 patients and 1 Nursing Assistant for every 7 patients. All team members must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire, and RNs are required to complete telemetry training within 30 days of orientation. The unit fosters a welcoming, inclusive environment with strong team engagement and active participation in professional governance, ensuring meaningful input in decision-making at both unit and site levels. MS3 regularly hosts clinical rotations and welcomes new graduate nurses, prioritizing high reliability practices, open communication, and a culture of learning. We seek RNs eager to grow their skills and embrace opportunities for professional development.
