About The Position

The Burn Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) is the only state-certified burn treatment facility in New Jersey, and one of the largest in North America. With 12 intensive care beds and an 18-bed step-down unit for less critically injured patients, the Burn Center provides expert care for patients of all ages. We are seeking a compassionate, intensive care Registered Nurse to care for our patients in their time of need.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating.
  • 2 plus years of critical care/intensive care experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current and active New Jersey RN licensure.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS, APLS, or ENPC courses.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association) required upon hire.
  • PALS/APLS/ENPC certification upon hire or within 1 year of the start date.
  • Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or complete the requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to unit.
  • Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
  • Assure safety in practice and maintain awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
  • Supervise and direct the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborate with other patient care providers.
  • Set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
  • Participate in patient teaching and discharge planning.
  • Participate in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
  • Utilize the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualize the plan of care to address a specific patient's needs.
