Registered Nurse RN Legal Nurse Consultant
About The Position
POSITION SUMMARY: The Legal Nurse Consultant supports the in-house legal needs of OSF and operating units. This position assists in the handling of medical-legal issues by using nursing and medical expertise, along with a strong understanding of legal principles, to coordinate medical-legal matters, analyze medical records, prepare comprehensive medical chronologies and timelines, conduct medical research, educate and train legal staff on medical terminology, assist in identification and retention of expert witnesses, and prepare demonstrative evidence for use at trial.
Requirements
- Associate degree in nursing
- 3 years clinical nursing
- Current and Active nursing license in state of practice (Illinois)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical and damages analysis
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple cases simultaneously
- Excellent time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced high-volume environment
- Certification as a Legal Nurse consultant (CLNC) or similar credential
