Registered Nurse RN Lactation Consultant
About The Position
POSITION SUMMARY: The Lactation Consultant supports, teaches and assesses breastfeeding in the clinical setting and as a resource person, will be available to answer client questions regarding hospital admission, expected plan of care while hospitalized, and follow up after discharge. The Lactation Consultant will assist clients with meeting prenatal and postnatal educational needs. In addition, he/she will coordinate communication between physician offices and the Alternate Birthing Center regarding pre/postnatal educational programs and provide continuing education to staff and function as a resource person to professional and lay groups.
Requirements
- Current IL Registered Nurse license.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.
Nice To Haves
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
- 2 years' experience as a practicing International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- ACLS certification or within one (1) year of employment and biannual recertification.
