About The Position

The James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital, located on the campus of ECU Health Medical Center, is designed to care for children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. The 198-bed Level II pediatric trauma center provides highly specialized services including neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, kids immunosuppressed specialty unit, specialty care nursery, 24/7 children's emergency department, pediatric radiology, pediatric surgery, and more. The Children's Hospital is a designated Children's Miracle Network hospital, placing it among the nation's top children's facilities. The position is responsible for providing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, and other standards established by profession/professional groups, regulating bodies/agents. Nursing care will be delivered in accordance with ECU Health and entity specific nursing policies, procedures, and professional standards of care/practice. The role includes the provision and coordination of nursing care, collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes, and development of a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members. The nurse will identify interventions to attain expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, evaluate the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes, and document the process, ensuring sensitivity to age-specific and unique needs of the patient/family. Additionally, the nurse promotes and evaluates the effective functioning of the health care team, collaborates with team members to meet the identified needs of the patient/family throughout the episode of care, and delegates tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by the NC Nurse Practice Act.
