About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in Labor and Delivery (L&D) at Lancaster General Health is a full-time role focused on providing direct patient care in a night shift capacity. The role is designed for newly licensed RNs or those with less than 15 months of experience, emphasizing the integration of nursing concepts, skills, and attitudes to meet professional standards. Requirements

  • RN Licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing or a Temporary Practice Permit until an RN license is obtained.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; required for Magnet designated RN positions based on established parameters.
  • CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice.
  • Perform patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions.
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes and adapt the plan of care based on recognized trends and changes.
  • Collect and manage comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis or issues and formulate age-appropriate and culturally sensitive plans of care.
  • Implement care knowledgeably and coordinate patient care across several disciplines.
  • Provide leadership to team members by communicating expected standards of care and supporting their contributions.
  • Educate patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices systematically.
  • Participate in process improvement activities to increase efficiency and continuity in nurse-patient relationships.
