About The Position

Join Texas Health as a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Neurosurgical Unit, where we are committed to providing exceptional patient care. This full-time position is located at Texas Health Fort Worth, with work hours from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, including rotating weekends and holidays. Our department emphasizes self-scheduling to promote work/life balance and offers numerous opportunities for educational and career growth. The 36-bed Neurosurgical Unit cares for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures, including elective spine surgeries, brain tumor treatments, and cranial hemorrhage cases. As a MAGNET facility and Level I Trauma Center, we pride ourselves on our engaged leadership team and robust Unit Based Council (UBC).

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI) within 90 days of hire required.
  • NIHSS certification within 90 days of hire required.
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • Current neurosurgical RN experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Neurosurgical Unit.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions and post-operative care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
