Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN)- Interventional Radiology Intake Location: New Hyde Park Hours/Days: 4/10 Hour Shifts; Mon, Wed-Fri (Between 7-6) (RDO Tuesday) Organization: New York Imaging (NYI) In This Role, You Will:

Requirements

  • Valid New York State RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
  • Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to NYI locations for patient care needs

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Start and Maintain IV’s for Radiology procedures including but not limited to CT scans and PET/CT scans.
  • Monitor and chart vital signs, weight and height
  • Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
  • Conduct cancer research to enhance treatment protocols assigned to cancer patients.
  • Provide supportive resources for the patient and the families to promote a positive outlook.
  • Teach patients and the families regarding treatment expectations.
  • Watch and record the patient’s progress on a constant basis.
  • Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
  • Complete MAR after treatment.
  • Provide the patient with discharge instructions that are specific to the patient as well as emergency numbers after care.
