About The Position

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit-3 East. This position offers a full-time, day shift schedule from 7a to 7p. New graduates are welcome to apply, with a sign-on bonus of $7,500 and a $500 uniform allowance. The hospital provides a dynamic 6-month Nurse Residency Program designed specifically for new graduate RNs with less than one year of experience, ensuring a smooth transition into the nursing career. The program includes practical skills training, professional development, and mentoring. The patient population on this unit may include cases such as sepsis, hemorrhage, stroke, cardiac issues, trauma, post-operative care, substance withdrawal, and diabetic ketoacidosis.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required).
• Registered Nursing License (required).
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit.
• Participate in the Nurse Residency Program for new graduates.
• Engage in a supportive team environment with a focus on patient care.
• Collaborate with unit-based nurse educators and team coordinators.
• Complete a 10 to 12-week clinical preceptorship.
