LOCATION: Lancaster, PA HOURS: Full time (36 Hours per Week), Night Shift (hours between 7:00pm-7:00am), every other weekend, varying holiday rotation ICU: A 32-bed mixed medical surgical ICU. We care for critically ill patients including those who may be on a ventilator and many life-sustaining medications. The patient population includes the open-heart surgery patient and critically ill COVID patients. The team cares for ECMO, CRRT, and other critical needs of our patient population.

Requirements

  • RN licensure is required, issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher level nursing degree is required.
  • Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or more than 15 months of practice.
  • CPR Certification - American Heart Association AHA Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice.
  • Practice as a full partner on the health care team and consistently demonstrate safe practice within the organizational professional practice model.
  • Independently provide patient care through the application of the nursing process and accept accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients.
  • Demonstrate within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology Informatics, and Teamwork.
  • Work closely with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum.
  • Perform patient assessments, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions.
  • Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes and adapt the plan of care based on recognized trends and changes.
  • Collect and manage comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.
  • Analyze the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issues.
  • Formulate age-appropriate and culturally and ethically sensitive plan of care.
  • Implement care in a knowledgeable manner and coordinate patient care across several disciplines and among caregivers.
  • Provide leadership to other members of the team by effectively communicating expected standards of care and encouraging and supporting team members and their contributions.
  • Educate patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
  • Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices.
  • Participate in process improvement activities with an emphasis on increasing continuity in the nurse to patient relationship.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through compliance with established evidence-based practice policies and procedures.
