About The Position

We are searching for an OB Float Pool Nurse! – someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you’ll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family centered principals and cost effective care. Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women is a comprehensive obstetrics/gynecology facility and one of a select few hospitals nationwide that provides women, mothers and babies with a full continuum of high-quality, expert health care. Offering a full spectrum of maternal and fetal medicine services, including an array of fetal diagnostic procedures and highly specialized fetal surgeries, the Pavilion for Women is connected to Texas Children’s Hospital via a two-story circular sky bridge to enhance patient care by providing physicians, staff and patient families with rapid access to other pediatric subspecialists. Three private OB/GYN practices, The Family Fertility Center, The Menopause Center and The Women’s Place – Center for Reproductive Psychiatry are all housed here. Additionally, we also recently opened a community-based OB/GYN practice in Pearland.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or other nursing degree with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
  • Current Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact license
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 9 months of professional nursing experience
  • Demonstrates positive and appropriate interpersonal skills
  • Strong time and resource management abilities
  • Demonstrates flexibility, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of unit-specific equipment and the nursing process
  • As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • PALS certification preferred
  • 4+ years in women’s services
  • Experience on OB Triage, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Antepartum
  • High-Risk Women’s Services (including GYN and antepartum OB patients)
  • Mother/Baby Unit (Couplet Care)
  • Newborn Transition Nurse (providing care to newly delivered newborns)
