About The Position

The ICU, CCU, & Stepdown unit at CentraState Healthcare System is a 16-bed facility that provides a centralized focus on critical care, making it an ideal environment for professionals looking to advance their careers in tele, step-down, or emergency departments. This mixed surgical, respiratory, and cardiac ICU caters to a diverse patient population, including critical cancer patients, those experiencing respiratory distress requiring intubation, patients with multisystem organ failure, individuals recovering from craniotomies, and those suffering from autoimmune diseases. The unit is designed to support its staff comprehensively, featuring a closed ICU model with intensivist-driven care from progressive physicians who stay current with the latest research and trends in critical care. Staff members benefit from a robust support system, including three Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on every shift, health unit coordinators, and a mobile IV Therapy Team that assists with peripheral and central line placements. The management structure includes four clinical leaders—two on day shift and two on night shift—who are not included in assignment ratios, ensuring they are available as dedicated resources for the staff. This structure fosters an environment where patient care is prioritized, and staff members can focus on delivering high-quality, individualized care to patients. In this role, nurses are expected to provide considerate and respectful care tailored to each patient's unique needs, ensuring patient satisfaction. They will affirm patients' rights to make decisions regarding their medical care and will be responsible for obtaining comprehensive nursing histories and baseline assessments. Effective communication and documentation of patient assessments, nursing diagnoses, care plans, and evaluations are critical components of the role. Nurses will also analyze patient information to determine appropriate nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address patients' physical, psychological, spiritual, and educational needs. The position requires nurses to administer medications, recognize changes in patient conditions, and participate in unit conferences to discuss quality improvement strategies. They will also be responsible for delegating care components to non-professional caregivers and ensuring follow-up on these assignments. Critical thinking and sound nursing judgment are essential for making decisions in clinical situations, and nurses will be expected to function as Resource Nurses in the absence of clinical leaders. Overall, this position offers a dynamic and supportive environment for nurses committed to excellence in patient care.
