About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Series at Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) provides safe, high-quality, patient-centered care to patients receiving scheduled outpatient series treatments. This role supports continuity of care through efficient, compassionate coordination and delivery of nursing services, in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to promote safety, patient experience, and positive clinical outcomes. Part-time benefited position, working 60 hours per two week pay period. Days of work are varying Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 8:00pm with no weekends or holidays.

Requirements

  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge acquired by completing an accredited RN nursing education program.
  • Must hold RN licensure from the ND State Board of Nursing for the current year.
  • Position requires completion of BLS CPR.
  • Position is required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training in the appropriate timeframe according to department orientation checklist.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule
  • Required to gather and interpret data in situations such as clinical observations, contributing to care plan, interpreting routine data and carrying out physician directed assignments.
  • Must be able to determine priorities within area of assignment.
  • Must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database management.
  • Independent nursing judgment is often required by the professional RN based on established policies and procedures. Substandard performance in nursing skills or judgment may adversely affect patient care, patient welfare and hospital goodwill.
  • High degree of duties involve contact with others; imperative that this person maintain good relationships with co-workers, patients’ families, and visitors; must be tactful and maintain telephone courtesy; must be able to exchange information on a factual basis, dispatch verbal or written messages as directed on a timely basis and perform other activities which require courtesy and tact.
  • Must have excellent and clear communication skills, ability to adapt to quick change, and be well organized.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must demonstrate physical and emotional ability to meet agreed upon work schedule and performance standards required by the position.
  • Required duties are such that concentrated attention must be applied on demand consistent with manual skill requirements in situations that may at times be stressful.
  • Visual acuity necessary for reading charts and working with medical devices; color perception necessary for interpreting testing procedures involving color comparisons.
  • Must practice aseptic techniques and observe Standard Precautions.
  • Participates in and complies with JRMC Safety Management program.
  • Position is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Must hold a current, unencumbered North Dakota driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for a minimum of one year nursing experience following completion of RN nursing education program.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers safe, high-quality nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, hospital policies, and Clinical Services procedures.
  • Provides direct patient care across the lifespan (pediatric, adult, geriatric) utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises individualized plans of care based on patient condition, response to treatment, and changing needs.
  • Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered.
  • Initiates and assists with emergency interventions for acute patient deterioration (e.g., cardiac arrest).
  • Adheres to infection prevention, isolation, standard precautions, disaster preparedness, and risk management policies; reports incidents per protocol.
  • Provides compassionate, patient-centered care that promotes dignity, comfort, and a positive patient experience.
  • Educates patients and families on treatment plans, expectations, and discharge needs using age-appropriate and culturally sensitive approaches.
  • Supports patients and families by providing resources that promote understanding, coping, and a positive outlook.
  • Maintains effective, respectful communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team in support of JRMC’s mission.
  • Delegates nursing care appropriately based on patient needs, staff competency, and scope of practice.
  • Participates in orientation, education, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Engages in staff development, professional collaboration, and teamwork to foster a positive work environment.
  • Maintains clinical competence through annual competencies, required certifications, and ongoing education.
  • Actively supports a culture of collaboration and shared accountability by floating to other departments when needed to ensure safe staffing, patient safety, and quality care across JRMC.
  • Utilizes supplies, medications, and equipment responsibly to support cost-effective care delivery.
  • Ensures equipment is clean, safe, and properly maintained to reduce waste, delays, and safety risks.
  • Supports efficient patient flow through proactive coordination of care, procedures, and discharges.
  • Engages in continuous learning, professional development, and skill advancement aligned with role expectations.
  • Contributes to innovation, improvement efforts, and evolving care models within JRMC.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental growth and organizational priorities.
