About The Position

Registered Nurse (RN) Hospice Inpatient Unit initiates and maintains the care plan for patients in the acute care setting based on decisions and wishes that have been established by the patient and their families. The RN-IPU focuses upon symptom management while addressing all other healthcare needs. The RN-Hospice IPU works closely with the in-patient team to provide support to patients and their families. Location: Washington, D.C. - Sibley Inpatient Unit Schedule: PRN COVID-19 vaccine required to be completed upon start.

Requirements

• Must have one year of staff nurse experience in a comparable setting/unit.
• Hospice and/or palliative care experience is strongly desired.
• Must have a degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• A BSN degree is preferred.
• Must have licensure from the governing body for practice for the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Licensure from compact state is acceptable.
• Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) is required to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
• A CHPN certification is a plus.
• Must have driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle during working hours.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality nursing care, patient and family education, and documentation.
• Responsible for supervising LPNs, CNAs, Unit Secretaries, and Volunteers, as applicable.
• May be asked to rotate to other regions/departments.
