The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse Assistant to join our General Surgery Unit. As an academic medical center in the heart of Washington, DC, we are committed to excellence, innovation, and advancing healthcare. The 39-bed unit is dedicated to providing high-quality pre/post general surgical care as well as managing the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. The RN will be responsible for providing patient-focused nursing care to patients with various surgical needs, including Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies, Tracheostomies, kidney and liver transplants, and trauma patients. RNs on this unit can learn about a wide range of surgical procedures and techniques, which can enhance their expertise and contribute to their professional development.

Requirements

• Current RN License in good standing with state licensing board.
• BSN required OR enrollment and completion of BSN within 5 years.
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg experience in an acute care setting.
• BLS certification (ACLS within 3 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-focused nursing care to patients with various surgical needs.
• Manage pre/post general surgical care.
