The Rapid Response Team Registered Nurse is an experienced and highly skilled clinician who will manage all codes and rapid response situations. The candidate must be able to function autonomously in a critical situation, assign tasks to those in attendance and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patient. The RN utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to patient care service delivery across the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Must have at least two years of critical care unit or emergency department experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of clinical, psychological, and pathophysiological theories related to nursing diagnosis and treatment.
  • Can competently perform the range of nursing techniques found in general nursing practice.
  • Maintains current CPR/ACLS/NIHSS certification.
  • 12 lead EKG interpretation proficiency.
  • 1 year of RN experience (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (preferred, not required).
  • 6 months RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit (preferred).
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Manage all codes and rapid response situations.
  • Function autonomously in critical situations.
  • Assign tasks to those in attendance.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patient.
  • Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status.
  • Determine the priority of the patient's problems and needs.
  • Implement clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care.
  • Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Conduct and analyze initial and ongoing patient assessment.
  • Create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
  • Synthesize and prioritize information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action.
  • Anticipate and respond with confidence to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization's policies and procedures.
