About The Position

The Float Pool RN provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. This position also performs House Supervisor responsibilities as needed to meet the needs of the facility. The Float Pool RN delegates and coordinates nursing care throughout the hospital and ensures that quality nursing care is delivered. Responsibilities include performing plan of care interventions, documenting patient care, monitoring and communicating patient conditions, assisting patients with daily living activities, collaborating across disciplines for patient care, evaluating learning needs, advocating for patient well-being, determining staffing assignments, providing staff training and mentoring, ensuring compliance with policies, and leading the resolution of complex issues and complaints.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing required.
  • Current RN license in the state of Kentucky.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • 1+ years of ER experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • ACLS & PALS per unit specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Delegates and coordinates nursing care throughout the hospital and ensures that quality nursing care is delivered.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.
  • Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
