About The Position

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care Float Pool to join the team. Our nurses have the unique opportunity to float to all five intensive care units at Fairfax Medical Campus: Trauma, Med/Surg, Neuro, Cardiovascular, and Cardiac Critical Care. Part-time Night Shift: Days Vary 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. Inova is consistently ranked a national healthcare leader in safety, quality and patient experience. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of two years of Critical Care nursing experience
  • BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Candidates will have 2 years of CICU or ICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
  • Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
  • Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
  • Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
  • Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
  • Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
  • Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
  • Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
  • Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
