JOB SUMMARY Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing
  • One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program
  • Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Completion of basic fetal monitoring class by the end of orientation
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring National certification (NCC) within two (2) years of hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • Two (2) or more years experience in this specific clinical area preferred
  • Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC or RN-BC) preferred
