About The Position

The GI LAB RN is responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care for Medical-Surgical Outpatient and/or Inpatients receiving surgical and/or invasive procedures through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adolescents, adults and older adults. This role requires communication with physicians, co-workers, and/or nursing director regarding the patient’s clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology, and the ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or treatment response. The RN will collaborate with other departments to ensure a continuum of care and work with co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow, and unit maintenance and organization. Adherence to regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures is essential, along with participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services. The RN also serves as a resource for other personnel.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care or outpatient surgery setting or G.I. lab
  • Completed Moderate Sedation competency within 30 days upon hire required
  • Previous endoscopy procedural experience

Responsibilities

  • Work with other departments to provide a continuum of care
  • Work with co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization
  • Adhere to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services
  • Act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate
