Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This role is a 0.75 FTE, 60 hours per pay period, 12 hour night shift (7pm-7:30am), with an every third weekend rotation. Complete services range from primary care, emergency care and the delivery of thousands of babies each year, to care of patients with the most sophisticated conditions. Our emergency team partners with the full spectrum of medical specialties and ancillary services including anesthesiology, intensive care, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, radiology, rehabilitation and surgery. Areas of specialization include solid organ and blood and marrow transplantation, heart disease and cancer.

  • Responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations.
  • Scope of practice extends from a patient's entry into the emergency room and continues from triage through discharge.
  • Care is centered on patients and families experiencing acute or chronic, actual or potential physical or psychosocial problems.
  • Triage patients effectively according to policies, laws, and resources.
  • Using the nursing process to deliver care for any patients addressing the department.
  • Develop an individualized plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
  • Prioritize the care of multiple patients with varied presentations.
  • Initiate timely interventions to prevent, correct, or minimize risks to the patient.
  • Provide effective and timely patient/family education related to the treatment plan.
  • Recognize and respond to subtle or rapid changes in patient status.
  • Current MN RN license
  • 1 year of RN Emergency Department, med/surg, or telemetry nursing experience
  • BLS for Health Care Providers
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) and TNCC (Trauma Nurse Co Course) will be required of all staff within the first year of employment.
