About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. Schedule: This role is a .75 FTE (60 hours) per pay period, 12-hour evening shifts, with every third weekend rotation. Variable schedule. Evening shifts are 11am - 11:30pm or 3pm - 3:30am. About this Unit: This unit has a total of 29 beds that see a variety of patients, pediatric through geriatric, abdominal pains, falls, strokes, chest pain, headaches. We are a dynamic team that focuses on promoting a welcoming atmosphere filled with strong teamwork, collaboration, empathy, and compassion. We are looking for a nurse who has strong social skills and knows how to communicate with both our patients and their fellow staff, who is compassionate, and who is a positive teammate.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) – required within first 6 months of employment for ED
  • 1 year of acute care RN experience

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data.
  • Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.
  • Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs and determine priority problems.
  • Identifies & documents outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
  • Prioritizes & implements interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
  • Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Anticipates, recognizes and responds to emergent situations.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) & presents EBP findings to peers
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
