About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN. Schedule: This role is a .75 FTE (60 hours every 2 weeks) 12-hour evening shifts, with every third weekend rotation. Variable schedule. Evening shifts are 9am-9pm, 11am-11pm or 1pm-1am. The 4-star rating places Fairview Lakes in the top 30 percent of hospitals in the country. About this Unit: The Emergency Department has 24 beds and 3 teams: Team A - 8 rooms, Team B - 8 rooms & Team C - 7 rooms. The trauma room stands alone & we follow the Team Nursing model. We offer a multidisciplinary approach to all emergencies. Our care delivery team consists of Board Certified/Eligible ED physicians, RNs, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, and Psych Associates. Teamwork is very important to success in the ED. Job Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc)
  • Emergency Department RN experience or at least 1 year of RN telemetry or critical care experience

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data.
  • Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.
  • Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs and determine priority problems.
  • Identifies & documents outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
  • Prioritizes & implements interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
  • Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Anticipates, recognizes and responds to emergent situations.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) & presents EBP findings to peers
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
