About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. Schedule: This role is a .8 FTE (64 hours) per pay period, 8-hour night shifts, with every other weekend rotation. Variable schedule. 8-hour night shifts are 2300-0730. About this Unit: This unit has a total of 29 beds that see a variety of patients, pediatric through geriatric, abdominal pains, falls, strokes, chest pain, headaches. We are a dynamic team that focuses on promoting a welcoming atmosphere filled with strong teamwork, collaboration, empathy, and compassion. We are looking for a nurse who has strong social skills and knows how to communicate with both our patients and their fellow staff, who is compassionate, and who is a positive teammate.

Requirements

  • 1 year of ICU, ED or Critical Care RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year RN experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) Some positions may require ACLS depending on the unit and patient population.

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
