VCU Inpatient Adult Psychiatry encompasses N4, a 16-bed Acute Psychiatric Unit for patients with psychosis, mania, or behavioral disturbances; N3, a 21-bed Medical Psychiatry Unit for geriatrics and psychiatric patients with stable medical comorbidities; and N3ECT, which offers in-patient and out-patient Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and outpatient Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy. VCU Adult Psychiatry units were the first in the country to receive the AACN Beacon Award. The Clinical Nurse II role involves mastering clinical skills, assisting the healthcare team in illness/injury prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision, recognizing and intervening in patient changes, mobilizing resources, providing direction and education, assuming unit-level leadership, and accurately documenting and administering age-specific care and medications. The Clinical Nurse III role demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge, assists the healthcare team, anticipates patient changes, provides direction and education, serves as a clinical role model, and accurately documents and administers age-specific care and medications.
