The Utilization Management nurse uses clinical expertise to review patient records in the emergency department setting and provide a recommended level of care. This position involves documenting findings based on department and regulatory standards, escalating cases when necessary, reviewing patient records pre-admission, and providing timely status recommendations to optimize patient classification and payer notifications.

Requirements

Associates degree required
RN License - required
3 years Clinical nursing - required

Nice To Haves

Bachelors degree preferred
5 years Clinical nursing in an acute care setting - preferred
Utilization Management or Care Management - preferred

Responsibilities

Build relationships to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
Other duties as assigned.
Provide status assignment recommendations to providers in emergency department setting.
Utilize critical thinking and expertise in utilization review regarding medical necessity, patient status, level of care, and regulatory compliance.
