Summary: Provides direct patient care in the Cardiopulmonary Department. Evaluates, educates and prepares patients for various procedures (stress test, TEE, echos, EKG and holter monitor). Assists in performance of various procedures by assessing and monitoring patients and giving medication ordered by the physician. Also assists in providing RN coverage in the imaging department on an as needed basis. Monitors patients during exercise sessions and procedures. Nursing responsibilities focus on the preventive and restorative healthcare needs of the cardiovascular patient. Provides patient education on disease entities, cardiac risk factors, behavior modification. Communicates with the the patient’s physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition including laboratory tests and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient’s condition and response to treatment. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

Requirements

  • CT State RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Two or more years recent experience in critical care/cardiac care.
