Job Summary: Functions as a member of the physician practice team, conducting duties such as: performing follow up testing of all cardiac rhythm management devices, including remote monitoring under the direction of the physician. The nurse will also support the Electrophysiology team (duties including phone triage, patient education, and other related tasks). Travel to other sites is required. Responsible for providing professional nursing care in the analysis of data for patients with implantable cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators and loop devices, following established standards and practices. The RN must be able to demonstrate the professional nursing skills to evaluate patients with arrhythmias and the technical skills to evaluate patients with cardiac rhythm management devices as well as the ability to program settings and troubleshoot in collaboration with electrophysiology specialists. This position requires highly specialized knowledge of various manufacturers and models of these devices and their functions along with the ability to acquire, maintain and integrate new technologies as they evolve. Promotes quality patient care. Triages phone calls and completes programming orders according to established protocols. Performs interrogation, evaluation, and reprogramming of all manufacturers models of cardiac rhythm management devices. Reviews remote, trans-telephonic, and in-office evaluations and completes documentation according to protocols. Provides patient and family education with appropriate documentation in EMR and CareLink. Adheres to billing guidelines and practices and promotes positive staff and inter-office relations. Acquires, maintains, and integrates knowledge of scientific principles and derived technology-based interventions and therapies in cardiac pacing, defibrillation, and electrophysiology to provide and facilitate the provision of safe, optimal patient care. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in Cardiology-strongly preferred
