About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care Unit (CCU) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in an adult Emergency Department/Intensive Care Unit (ED/ICU) holding environment. The nurse performs advanced patient assessments, administers treatments, monitors patient conditions, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. This role requires experience in acute care critical care settings and the ability to manage complex patient needs with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license .
  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care experience within the past two years in a hospital of similar size or trauma level.
  • Experience working in critical care or intensive care settings .
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
  • Experience working in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in a critical care or ED/ICU holding unit.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient conditions continuously.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on clinical assessments and physician orders.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and other treatments according to established clinical protocols.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and clinical indicators to identify changes in patient conditions.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assist with life-saving procedures when required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatments, procedures, and recovery expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
