About The Position

The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional setting. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, medication administration, patient education, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure appropriate medical management of incarcerated individuals.

Requirements

• Active New York State RN License (required).
• Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience post-licensure .
• Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment.
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patient health conditions within scope of practice.
• Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms or complications.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Manage restorative and palliative care for ill, disabled, or terminal patients.
• Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and treatment compliance.
• Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and podiatrists.
• Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Participate in healthcare planning committees and contribute to care coordination efforts.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and state standards.
