About The Position

Position Purpose The Registered Nurse (RN) Coordinator is a frontline nursing leadership role responsible for supporting the operational management of the unit while fostering an environment of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role ensures compliance with all applicable licensing, regulatory, and accreditation standards and promotes ethical, professional nursing practice. The RN Coordinator provides unit-based leadership, actively engages staff, and supports evidence-based practice to drive continuous improvement and organizational change. The Coordinator identifies operational and clinical challenges, recommends solutions, and participates in their resolution. This role requires the ability to provide direct patient care, manage staff, make independent decisions, and assume managerial responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New York.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in acute or critical care and/or nursing leadership preferred.
  • Related experience may be considered based on department-specific needs.
  • Required certifications and licensure per regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical expertise, leadership ability, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to continuing education and ongoing professional development.

  • Actively pursuing an advanced nursing degree preferred.
  • Specialty certification and education aligned with the clinical practice area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement staffing plans to ensure appropriate patient care coverage and adjust unit productivity to meet established targets.
  • Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to optimize bed utilization in collaboration with the Administrative Coordinator Office.
  • Respond to urgent and emergent situations by reallocating personnel and resources as needed.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, corrective action, and termination of staff, as appropriate.
  • Educate and mentor team members to ensure clinical competency and professional growth.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality nursing care in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Services standards.
  • Maintain working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency in practice.
