About The Position

UC Health is hiring full time Registered Nurse (RN) for the night shift to support NICU at UC Medical Center. Level III NICU with a variety of complications, such as micro-prematurity at 23 weeks with numerous risk factors and comorbidities, feeder-growers, infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome (opioid withdrawal). Nurses are highly skilled in many critical care techniques, including ventilators, umbilical line maintenance, chest tubes, etc. As the pioneering hospital of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati's academic health system, UC Medical Center has served greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate's Degree, minimum required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred
  • Current OH RN License
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements based on patient population needs.
  • Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for employees working in UCMC Psychiatric Services, NCI-APS (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
