About The Position
UC Health is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Mental Health Services at UC Medical Center. This position involves working in the Psychiatric Emergency Room, which is the only one in Southwest Ohio, providing crisis intervention and rapid assessment of individuals in need of behavioral health care. The RN will be part of a team that includes a psychiatrist available 24/7, and will engage in various activities such as phone consultation, medication evaluation and treatment, diagnostic assessment, and mobile crisis intervention. The role also includes educating emergency providers in the community about mental health services. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for preparing, implementing, evaluating, revising, and coordinating an interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient. This collaborative effort involves working closely with other healthcare team members and the patient's family. You will communicate the formulated plan of care to all associates involved, establish priorities based on patient assessments, and provide clear instructions to patients and their families regarding treatment. The RN will also need to identify and respond to the unique psychological needs of patients, demonstrating critical thinking and flexibility in meeting the needs of the unit. In addition to direct patient care, the RN will act as a resource and mentor for new personnel and contribute to their professional development. The position requires a commitment to personal professional growth and the ability to document nursing processes accurately in accordance with hospital policies.
