This position provides unit based leadership and support to employees; delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• At least one year of experience as a RN in an acute environment
• Current nursing license in the State of Ohio

Nice To Haves

• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Ohio Nursing Practice Act and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, education, empowerment, recognition and stimulates innovative thinking.
• Assess and maintain staffing levels that are responsive to patient care needs and that optimizes productivity.
• Provide staff with coaching and ongoing performance feedback; communicate job standards and expectations.
• Lead regular meetings with employees and foster an environment for effective communication.
• Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
• Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery.
