About The Position

The Cath Lab RN position supports cardiology procedures and prep and recovery at both Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and Naperville Freedom Drive Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The role involves working 4 - 10 hour shifts per week, Monday to Friday, with departments closed on weekends and holidays. The nurse must be able to arrive at Good Samaritan Hospital within 30 minutes for cardiac interventional call, typically requiring 5-10 call shifts per month. The position emphasizes using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skilled dialogue to create a safe patient environment and enhance patient experience. The nurse is responsible for delivering and coordinating patient-centered care across the continuum, ensuring successful transitions for patients to other healthcare systems or home communities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current IL RN license.
  • BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with agreement to enroll in BSN completion program within four years for nurses with less than 12 months of experience.
  • Nurses with more than 12 months experience must possess a BSN or obtain AAH recognized nursing certification within one year of hire.
  • Current AHA CPR certification.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts.
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in emergencies.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Support cardiology procedures and prep and recovery in the Cath Lab.
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice and clinical decision making in patient care.
  • Respond to patients in a timely manner and access all areas of the unit.
