About The Position

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Registered Nurse for our Cardiovascular Operating Room who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Operating Room Nurse you will: Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intraoperative patient care plan. Delivers perioperative patient centered care incorporating the nursing process while culturally sensitive and evidenced based care. Maintains proficiency in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic surgery and serves as a resource for new information or changes to cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care. Documents (electronic) of patient care and outcomes. Works within the scope of practice and delegates according to Nurse Practice Act. Participates in quality improvement activities and uses quality measures to understand individual and unit performance. Pursues professional development and growth. Maintain proficiency in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic surgery and serves as a resource for new information or changes to cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care. Knowledge of procedures and surgeon preferences for assigned specialty Effective communication, interpersonal skills, able to conduct crucial conversations Able to work in stressful environment with multiple demands and respond appropriately Able to resolve conflicts effectively, prioritize tasks, respond to emergencies and react calmly Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to evaluate patient care Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care Awareness of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment Able to respond to alarms, codes, telephones, overhead pages, etc. Able to read charts, labels, documentation, policies and procedures Able to communicate with staff, visitors, patients, and physicians in clear and concise English Knowledge of and participation in quality, patient experience and professional development initiatives

Requirements

  • ADN, BSN, MSN, from an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum 2 years CVOR experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year General OR experience
  • (Willing to train as CVOR RN, eligible for bonus with 3 years commitment to CVOR team).
  • Active Maryland RN license or active compact state RN
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate preferred.
  • Certification in specialty once qualified
  • Knowledge of procedures and surgeon preferences for assigned specialty
  • Effective communication, interpersonal skills, able to conduct crucial conversations
  • Able to work in stressful environment with multiple demands and respond appropriately
