About The Position

The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients in the Cardiopulmonary Care Step Down Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center. This fast-paced unit is dedicated to the care of patients with conditions such as pneumonia, sepsis, atrial fibrillation, NSTEMI, and advanced heart failure. RNs in this unit are supported through telemetry and ACLS certifications. The role requires strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, act as a service line between Med-Surg and ICU units, determine the priority of patient problems and needs, develop and perform patient care plans, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• 1 year of RN experience (required)
• 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Serve as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
• Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
• Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
