About The Position

The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status. This role acts as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units, determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs, developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The position is located in the Cardiopulmonary Care Step Down Unit, which is a fast-paced unit dedicated to the Cardiopulmonary patient population including pneumonia, sepsis, Afib, NSTEMI, and advanced heart failure. RNs are supported through telemetry and ACLS certifications.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• 1 year of RN experience (required)
• 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)
• 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Serve as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
• Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
• Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned
