About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry position at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital involves using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skilled dialogue to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience. The nurse is responsible for delivering and coordinating patient-centered care across the continuum, supporting the successful transition of patients to other healthcare delivery systems or their home communities. This fast-paced 50-bed unit specializes in Cardiac Telemetry, caring for patients with complex cardiac diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, and A Fib, as well as post-open heart surgical patients and those undergoing cardiac interventional procedures. The role requires comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current IL RN license.
  • BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with an agreement to enroll in a BSN completion program within four years for nurses with less than 12 months of experience.
  • Must possess a BSN or obtain AAH recognized nursing certification within one year for nurses with more than 12 months of experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year of Telemetry or Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
  • Current AHA CPR and ACLS certification preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts.
  • Ability to assist in patient evacuation during emergencies.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a cardiac telemetry unit.
  • Certification in cardiac nursing.
