About The Position

The Registered Nurse RN Cardiac Rehab position at LewisGale Medical Center focuses on delivering patient-centered care in a cardiac rehabilitation setting. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's Degree required.
  • Registered Nurse License issued by the Department of Health Professions, Commonwealth of Virginia, or a multi-state privilege granted by the Nurse Licensure Compact Agreement required.
  • Two years of RN experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association required within 12 months of beginning employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Dysrhythmia recognition and pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease knowledge.
  • Cardiovascular/pulmonary assessment skills.
  • Basic knowledge of exercise physiology and clinical exercise physiology.
  • Experience and skills with older adults.
  • Computer skills and educational planning and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease-specific protocols.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN's scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
  • Provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance, incorporating patient/family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.
