This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the Cardiac Medical unit at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center. It is a full-time role, 36 hours per week, with benefits, requiring work every third weekend and annual holiday rotation. The nurse will actively participate in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to enhance care processes and implement evidence-based practices. Key responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process for patient assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation, while engaging patients and families throughout their care journey. The role involves monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to achieve optimal outcomes, all while maintaining a strong culture of safety. The RN will continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, administer medications and therapies safely, and demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution to foster team collaboration and appropriate delegation. Professional development, ongoing education, and maintaining certifications are expected. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics, ethical decision-making, respect for interdisciplinary roles, and contributing to integrated, unbiased patient care are paramount. The position also requires appropriate delegation to other nursing personnel and accurate, timely EHR documentation. The nurse may be required to float to other units or facilities within the designated service area and must possess knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles across the lifespan.
