About The Position

ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. The position is responsible for providing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice and other standards established by profession/professional groups, regulating bodies/agents. Nursing care will be delivered in accordance with ECU Health and entity specific nursing policies, procedures and professional standards of care/practice. The role includes the provision and coordination of nursing care, collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes, and development of a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher.
  • 1 year of experience is required.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet the 24-hour needs of patients.
  • Possess organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
  • Maintain stable performance levels under pressure and multiple demands.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act.

  • Delegate tasks and activities as appropriate.
