Requirements

  • Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. If prepared at the associate level, enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months and completion within 4 years is required.
  • Experience: Prior critical care, trauma, or burn care nursing experience preferred.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Active RN license in the District of Columbia (DC is not part of the compact).
  • BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days of hire.
  • Additional specialty certifications may be required depending on department needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior critical care, trauma, or burn care nursing experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert nursing care for patients with acute burns, traumatic injuries, and complex critical conditions.
  • Continuously assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient status using evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians, nurse leaders, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Serve as a patient and family advocate, communicating clearly and compassionately.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and evidence-based practice enhancements.
  • Mentor and support new team members through orientation, education, and professional development opportunities.
