The Avera Behavioral Health Acute Unit is a short term inpatient unit with safety and stabilization as the primary focus for patients. During patient's stay on the Acute unit, patients actively participate in healthy living and expressive therapies which include art, music and fitness therapy. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys patient focused care with a team dedicated to quality patient outcomes, likes working with the Adult population and their families, has a passion for helping patients with conditions such as Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Bipolar, Depression, and Addictive disorders. It is an active, challenging care environment that requires critical thinking, values autonomous professional nursing practice, and offers motivation to help create and deliver high-quality patient care in an energizing team environment. The Acute unit is an 18-bed unit that provides an opportunity to meet 60+ coworkers and work in a positive environment, changing the lives of patients. The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to understand patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills. The RN is responsible for noting changing conditions and needs and re-evaluating care objectives.
