Women & Infants Services (WIS) is the largest department at BUMCP and averages over 6500 deliveries per year. BUMCP is accredited by the Arizona Perinatal Trust as a Level 4 Perinatal Center which certifies that we are qualified to take care of the most high-risk patient population. The WIS department at BUMCP consists of OB Triage, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and Postpartum. The WIS department at BUMC-P is well known for our specialty programs including (Remove: higher order multiples), placenta accreta management, OB critical care, substance use disorder in pregnancy, and fetal therapies . At Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix we are a Magnet facility and the WIS department has been highlighted in many examples for our Magnet re-designations. As an academic medical center and magnet designated facility, we always have research studies running in our unit. Some of these are nurse driven and others by our OB residency program. We have a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist for Women and Infant Services who helps conduct and/or support implementation of the latest research to bring evidenced based practice to our department. Teaching and training students and new employees are an essential part of our department. Our goal is to provide a positive learning environment full of great opportunities and support to learn and grow so that each employee can thrive and reach their fullest potential. This includes support for certification and participation in our Nursing Clinical Ladder Program. The Antepartum unit is staffed with RN’s, PCA/ HUC’s and a charge RN who report to the Associate Director. Additional support staff include Lactation Consultants, Birth Recorders, Social Workers/Case Management as well as contracted companies to perform newborn hearing screening and newborn photography. We care for low & high risk mothers and their infants in a family centered atmosphere. The key areas of focus besides excellent medical care is to provide an exceptional customer experience through knowledge, skill, and a healing environment. Our discharge goal is to educate and prepare this new family for a safe and seamless transition home. This is a full time NIGHT shift position from 7:00PM to 7:30AM. POSITION SUMMARY This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
